(From Our Own Correspondent.) OPIKI, March 4. A general committee meeting of tho Opiki Women’s Institute was held in tho hall on Monday afternoon, Mrs Wilde presiding. There was a full attendance of members. The business included arrangements for the March meeting and final nominations for tho now committee were received. As there are only the required number of nominations, i.e., ten, received for the committee and one nomination for president no election will bo necessary next meet-' mg, which is the annual meeting, so tho committee have arranged for som% items and a social half hour to bo spent after some necessary business has been completed. Final arrangements were also made for tho concert and dance to be held in the Opiki Hall next Friday night. The Linton Institute is combining with Opiki and everybody is looking torward to a pleasant evening. Members of the Opiki Institute arc asked to brag a plate of cakes and a plate of sandwiches. A general meeting convened by the chairman of tho Kail Committee was held on Friday, March 1. The business o: the evoning was “The transfer of tho hall section from the Akers Estate to the Hall Society.” The chairman, Mr G. Allwright, explained that at the, moment the correct procedure was not quite clear, and he invited opinions. The diecuission hinged upon tho necessity or otherwise of regi, tiring tho Had Society as an incorporated body. However, tho matter was finalised by a motion unanimously carried to the effect of leaving the committee to transact the business to tho host advantage. Mrs Kodmond, of Mangatamoka, is ai present visiting her eon, Air Redmond, of Opui Road. Alls Hansen. Alakevua Road, is away on holiday. Mr B. Norman, who is at present in New Plymouth, is expected homo during tho week.
