Mr Charles Cochran, the well-known theatrical producer, is dissenting from tho managers’ agreement with the actors’ organisation, Equity, to which lie is not a party. He announces that he is abandoning his plans to produce three plays requiring 183 actors and actresses. Mr Cochran says the ma.nagers have put themselves completely at the mercy of tli-2 actors. The dispute between British artists and theatre managers was reported to 1 ave been settled by the establishment of a London Theatre Council, composed of 10 representatives of both managers and artists under an independent chairman nominated by the Minister of Labour. The critics arc appreciative of the New Zealander, Miss Marie Ney’s, first venture as an actress manageress in “Mrs Nobby Clark” in which her interpretation of the lead is warmly praised.
