METEOR OF FIRE.
A fiery meteor split the noonday brilliance of the skies in three south-west-ern States of America on December 28, causing several persons to report they had seen an airplane fall in flames. The startling flash and trail of smoke was observed at points 150 miles apart in Oklahoma, Arkansas and Kansas. No trace was found of the meteor, which possibly disintegrated before it struck the ground. Numerous witnesses reported seeing the ohenomenon at Pittsburgh, Kansas. They described it as a “ball of fire” which streaked across the sky to the south and east at a great altitude and left a plume of black smoke.
