YESTERDAY’S BUSINESS AND PRICES. lYitli a few exceptions, quotations on the Wellington Stock Exchange yesterday were inclined to be easier, the market showing an irregular tone. Sellers predominated in the lists, but trading was inactive, There was an improved demand for Government loans, which were gcnolally firm. The 4 per cent, stock, 1946, sold at £lO5 ex half-year’s interest, buyers staving in at £lO4 10s. The 4 per cent., 1955, were a shade better at £lO9 7s bd. Bank and pastoral shares were a dull market, the former, showing an easier tendency. Commercial of Australia were unchanged at 16s 4d. Commercial of Sydney wore marked down to £ls 10s, sellers £l6 10s, and E.S. and A’s to £4 10s, sellers staying at £5 Is. Goldsbrough Mort were 2d better at 7s 9d. Wellington Gas ordinaries improved to 42s 6d. New Zealand Insurance wore weak at 66s 4d, sellers 67s 3d. Now Zealand Refrigerating sold at 19s 7d, buyers staving v--at 19s. Gear Moat showed little change at 21s 10d, sellers 22s 6d. Ilnddart Barker cased 3d to 37s 3d, sellers 38s 6d, Welling ton Woollen preference advanced 2s to £5 15s without response. Breweries attracted more attention, buyers coming _ in for Tooths at 48s and Toohevs at 28s. New Zealand wore unchanged at 50s. sellers easing 3d to 50s 9d. In miscellaneous industrial and trading issues. Broken llill Proprietary were weaker at 51s 9d, sellers 55s 6d. Dominion Fertiliser were 3d up at 21s 6d. Electrolytic Zinc ordinaries wore 6d better at 21s 6d. Buyers offered 20s 9d for Prestige (N.Z.). sellers holding for 23s 6d. Dunlop Perdriau sold at 18s and 18s 9d. and Wilsons Cement at 345.
