SUMMER SICKNESS.

PREVALENCE IN SCHOOLS. Considerable summer sickness is a.t present reported to be prevalent anion" Palmerston North school children, and this week attendances have been severely depleted in consequence. There were 70 children absent from the Central School on one day, and 40 were absent from the Hokowhitu School yesterday. Other school rolls have suffered similarly. The complaint, .in its symptoms, is stated to resemble influenza. It has frequently started with pains at the back of the head, creating alarm to some parents lest their children should have sunstroke. No particular cause has been ascribed to this mild epidemic of sickness, though it is surmised that the heat lias been a factor.
