(From Our Own Correspondent.) MILSON. Feb. 14. At the monthly meeting of the Women’s Institute. Mrs F.’ G. Murphy presided over a good attendance. Owing to the dry season the flower show has been postponed to a later date. Mrs L. T. King was accorded a vote of thanks for; the gift of a table cover. The gladioli growing competition conducted bv the gardening circle was won bv Mrs Bartlett, and two other competitions were won by Mrs Dvniock and Mrs Norris. After the business.' Mrs Sirnpson, of Woodville, was introduced to the members and gave several interesting- demonstrations, including furniture making from boxes, which were keenly followed by all present. At the conclusion a vote of thanks was accorded the demonstrator. Afternoon tea was served by the hostesses. The annual picnic of the YV omen’s Institute was held yesterday in the pleasant surroundings of the Esplanade. Being favoured with ideal weather conditions, there was a good attendance of members and their friends, who spent an enjoyable time. Transport was by private cars, and tea, sugar, and hot water were provided by the committee. The time was spent in games and competitions. The winners of the events were as follow .-—Finding the basket (blindfold), Mrs Harvey; treasure hunt, Mrs McKenna; tbread-the-needle race, Mrs Varcoc. Mr R. Glenn, of the clerical staff of the Railway Station, has ben transierred to Alasterton. Accompanied .by Mrs Glenn, ue left for Masterton to-day.
