LABOUR FOR HARVEST.
MARTON’S NEEDS SUPPLIED. Per Press Association. MARION, Jan. 24. Since the report was published last week that there was a shortage of farm labour in the Marion district, dozens of men have arrived and hundreds of letters from all parts of the Auckland province, particularly the 'Waikato, have been received by local bodies and the registrar of unemployed requesting information. The shortage was merely temporary, and harvesting requirements have been adequately filled. The expense of a visit to the Marion district now in search of such work is not warranted. The inquiries came from places as far apart as Whangarci and Wellington. A few of tlie applicants had admittedly left positions on dairy farms temporarily, for a change of work, or sought the chance of taking.a holiday and paying their expenses while doing so.
