YESTERDAY’S BUSINESS AND PRICES. There was more activity on the Wellington stock and share market, yesterday, 22 sales being recorded. Government loans were again in steady demand, with few sellers. The 4 per cent. bonds, 1949, changed hands at £lO6 10s, and the 1956'.s at £lO9 17s 6d. Bank shares wore actively traded. Australasia were done at £ll 12s 6d, National of New Zealand at £3 11s 9(1 and £3 12s 6d, and Reserve Bank at £6 12s 6d. New Zealand sold late on Thursday at 49s 9d. Buyers yesterday were offering 49s 9d, but sellers were asking 50s 6d, lid up on Thursday. Insurance shares wore again firm, buyers of South British advancing their offers a further 3d to £4 17s 6d, with no sellers in the market. Kaiapoi Woollen were done at 15s 6d and 15s 7d, and Leyland O’Brien Timber at 21s 6d. New Zealand Breweries were firm with a sale late on Thursday at 52s 3d.
