ASSETS AND LIABILITIES. WELLINGTON, Jan. 13. The 24th weekly statement of assets and liabilities of the Reserve Bank of New Zealand as at the close of business on Monday, January 14, 1935, is as follows:

Proportion of reserve (No. 8 less No. 6) to notes and other demand liabilities, 98.18 per cent., compares with 95.24 per cent on January 7. A decrease of £17,631 9s lid is shown in sterling exchange which has been further reduced to £21,920.641 3s 6d. Gold remains unchanged at £3,001,731. Subsidiary coin at £88,835 4s lid, shows a decrease of £5335 7s sd. Investments at £1,897,663 os 9d show an increase of £5425 7s Bd. Other assets have increased by £2923 10s 8d and now stand at £23,343 2s 4d. On the liabilities side the note issue I at £9.623,430 shows an decrease of £128,959. Government deposits; at £7,563,614 19s 3d show an increase of I £510,856 2s Id, and trading banks de-1 posits at £8,193,714 13s lOd are lower | by £381.789 4s od. Other demand lia-j bilities have decreased by £1697 Is Id to j £3206 8s Id. Other liabilities stand at £48,247 los 4d, an increase of 4s od. The statement balances at £26.932. 213 16s 6d, a decrease of £ISBB 19s.
