ALARMING RUMOUR.

THE ELLSWORTH EXPEDITION. Per Press Association. DUNEDIN, Jan. 17. The latest most alarming rumour concerning the Ellsworth Expedition is that the Wyatt Earp is caught in the pack ice. The rumour is unconfirmed, as the Dunedin agents ha.ve had no communication since the ship sailed in September, but the continued silence and long postponement of the Antarctic flight lend some credence to the report, which comes from a quarter to which some authority attaches. The vessel's location is unknown, but from Christmas greetings received it is assured that she is in the Weddell Sea, not the Bellingshausen Sea for which she was headed early in December.
