TANGLED WIRE.
IN MAN’S STOMACH. A man with 130 pieces of wire in his stomach was treated at the Goulburn (N.S.W.) Hospital recently. Some of the pieces were more than two inches long. The patient, who is 33 yeans of age, entered the hospital, complaining of acute pains in the stomach. The pain continued, and an X-ray examination revealed foreign substance of a tangled nature. The surgeon who operated was amazed when he found that the foreign substance was really a mass of wire pieces of varying lengths and thicknesses, the majority being shaped with a hook at one end. They were removed one by one. The doctors regard the case as extraordinary, and consider that it is remarkable that the man survived the ordeal. . It is staled that the patient refused to explain how he came to swallow the wire.
