FORCEFUL CRICKET
IN WEST INDIES MATCH. Received January 17, 1.35 p.m. PORT OF SPAIN, Jan. 16. Trinidad in their first innings against the M.C.G. touring team scored 371 for 7 wickets and declared (Roach 28 Maynard, not out, 200, Merry 31, 11.’ Grant 37). England, who in their first innings scored 348, have scored 11 for one wicket in their second strike. Maynard, a young schoolmaster, making his first appearance in big cricket, batted for 5J hours, defying seven bowlers with forceful one-side shots. He hit thirty boundaries.
