A depression covering the greater part of New' Zealand has intensified since last night and this morning is centred south of Banks Peninsula. Forecast: Strong north-west winds to gales, backing, temporarily to south-westerly within the next 24 hours. Weather: Unsettled and squally, with rain probable. Thunder in places. Seas rough.
