HIGHER PRICES?
FOR AUSTRALIAN WOOL. Anticipating an advance in prices at the next Australian wool sales, the Economist attributes it to Uraclford’s position, as the result of German buying of tops and scoured wools. Many topmakers do not desire orders for delivery before March. The Yorkshire Post believes that the German-South African deal indicates the possibility of South African wool advancing, resulting in greater attention to other markets. The higher price for South African tops already is causing greater interest in fine Australian tops, a considerable quantity of which is going to Germany from Bradford, thus disposing of Australian suggestions that growers are not benefiting by the German demand.
The -paper adds that Germany is only able to do the bulk of her trade with countries with which she has special arrangements, and that Australia is fortunate in reaching Germany through Britain.
