AMATEUR ATHLETICS.
EVENING SPORTS MEETINGS. Last season the Kia Toa Amateur Athletic Club and the Manawatu Amateur Cycling Club combined, for the purpose of conducting evening sports gatherings at the Sportsground, with pleasing results, the presentation of programmes catering for both branches meeting with favour by the athletes themselves and by the patrons. At a meeting of the two bodies it was decided to again amalgamate for the same purpose, arrangements being made for the presentation of an evening fixture on Monday night when the following events will be presented:—so yards and 75 yards flat race handicaps, shot put, one lap and two-mile cycle races. The following officials were appointed:—Judges, Messrs E. Houlihan, IV. Mitchell, E. Hancock, G. Esau; timekeepers, Messrs V. Spademan and L. Mullins ; starter, Mr A. Weston ; megaphone steward, Mr N. Dixon; liandicappers, Mr A. Weston (running) and J. Hastie (cycling); marksmen, Messrs A. Diveliall and E. Woollett; cycle stewards, Messrs J. Rush, C. Olsen, M. Goudie, M. Quigan. HANDICAPS. Mr A. Weston has declared the following handicaps for the running events:— 50 yards:—Finlay 24yds, R. Gillesjne 34, Moxon 4i„ Dynes 41, M. Gillespie 44, Dawick 64, McDonald 64, Cowling 7, Cutler 8, Gleeson 8, Hurley, Dangerfield, Miller and Hadfield to be handicapped. 75 yards.—Finlay 3yds, R. Gillespie 4, Moxon 5, Dynes 5, M. Gillespie 5, Dawick 6, McDonald 7, Cowling 8, Cutler 9, Gleeson 9, Hurley, Dangerfield, Miller and Hadfield to be handicapped. Cycling.—l lap: H. Rogers 10yds, A Fade 10, E. Astin 10, 11. Walker 20, G. Esau 20, N. Hyde 25, R. Hobbs 25, D. Thomas 30, D. Hayes 30, A. Williams 30, A. Rasmussen 35, L. Hayes 35, D. Lamberton 35, P. Campbell 40, F. Christensen 40, A. Lamberton 40, J. Henderson 40, E. Pillinger 45, L. Cooksley 45, P. Taylor 50. Two 'miles.—H. Rogers 50yds A. Eade 50, E. Astin 50, R. Walker 80. G. Esau 80, N. Hyde 100, R. Hobbs 100, D. Thomas 150, D. Hayes 150, A.
