CENTENARY GOLF.

SEMI-FINAL PLAY. MELBOURNE, Nov. 23. The semi-finals of the Centenary professional gplf championship resulted: Shute (U.S.A.) beat Craig Wood (U.S.A.), 1 up; L. Diegel (U.S.A.) beat J. Ezar (U.S.A.), 6 and 5. Shute played well for a morning round of 68, going in to lunch 3 up. Shute at the fifteenth needed three fours to better his yesterday’s 66, but throe putts at the eighteenth ended that hope. In the afternoon Wood played better, and lowered the deficit, but too many halves prevented his ever gaining the lead, notwithstanding a mighty drive of 320 yards at the thirteenth.

Neither Diegel nor Ezar played well in the morning, both giving opportunities which were not accepted. The play was lamentable for such players. Diegel finished the round 2 up. In the afternoon Ezar lipped three putts, but made amends at the next hole by sinking a sensational putt of 30 feet.
