AERO CLUB TROPHY.

PRESENTED BY LORD BLEDISLOE Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Nov. 23. At the annual meeting of the New Zealand Aero Club, Lord Bledisloe announced that “with a view to stimulating keenness among newlytrained pilots to excel in the science and art of aviation, with special regard to safety based upon knowledge and prudence,” he and the Lady Bledisloe are making the club a Christmas gift of a silver trophy. The trophy, which is to be known as the Bledisloe Aviation Trophy, will he competed for by pilots of the various aero clubs. The candidates nominated by the clubs in each Island will carry out tests in airmanship, navigation, and landing prescribed at an official pageant in their respective islands.

The winners of each island competition will then meet for the final. The trophy will be held by the club nominating the winning competitor for the year. Another trophy has been presented to the club by a firm of silversmiths in honour of the Duke of Gloucester’s visit. It will be known as the Gloucester Trophy, and it was allocated for competition between professional pilots of the Dominion. The following officers were elected: President, Air G. AI. Spence; vicepresidents Messrs R. Spencer-Mason (Auckland), and O. C. Weinstein (Wellington).
