YESTERDAY’S BUSINESS AND PRICES.

A dull market with a slightly weaker tendency was seen on the Wellington Stock Exchange yesterday. Government loans were quiet, and quotations were distinctly easier. Bank shares were almost completely neglected, the only buying offer being £ll for Bank of Australasia. Goldsbrougli Mort weakened to 29s Bd. N.Z. Guarantee Corporation were firm at 5s Bs, sellers 5s lOd. Wellington Gas were strong at 41s 9d. Westport Coal firmed so 20s 4d. Kauri Timber were 6d down at 17s 3d. British Tobacco were active, a sale being made on ’change at 4is Bd, and three parcels reported sold ar. 41 s 9d. Colonial Sugar were very firm at £76.
