WOODVILLE
AVOODVILLE, Nov. 23. There was a large attendance at the Parish Hall last evening, when the Woodville AVomen’s Institute hold a “husbands’ and brothers’ ” evening. A short concert programme was given and community singing under the baton of Mrs McCormack was enjoyed, after which the Glee Party gave the" glees they sang at the recent drama festival. This was followed by a play by the Drama Circle. The opportunity was taken to congratulate the participants in the festival and a bouquet was presented to the conductor, Mrs McCormack. Accompaniments were played by Mesdarnes Schroder and Sinclair. The president (Mm N. M. Burnett) expressed the pleasure and thanks of the institute at the support accorded their programme. Mr J. Elder spoke briefly on- behalf of the husbands, voicing their appreciation of the entertainment. Dancing was continued until a late hour.
The Presbyterian Ladies’ Guild bazaar and sale ot work on Wednesday afternoon realised the sum of £45.
Mrs I-lalpin, president, was in the chair at the monthly meeting of the Woodville branch of the AVomen’s Division of the Farmers’ Union on Tuesday. An instructive demonstration on the icing of a cake was given by Mrs H. McNeil, who was accorded a vote of thanks. A stall, held to sell goods made by returned soldiers, did good business. The competition for the day was a plum pudding, Mrs Halpin being first and Mrs Hume second. A competition on nail-driving was held. Miss Prydo proved the winner. Afternoon tea was handed round, the hostesses being Mrs Hume and Miss Aitchieson. .
