Torrential rain has fallen over central and southern Queensland, causing flooded creeks in a number of districts. Storms in the Roma district yielded nearly four inches of rain in an hour, while in the Gladstone district twelve inches were recorded in the afternoon. Several houses were unroofed and hail piled up to a height of eighteen inches. The water is four feet deep over the railway line between Dalby and Bell. Robert Roberts, aged 21, was washed off his horse and drowned in attempting to cross a swollen stream.
