DEFENCE CONFERENCE.

DISCUSSIONS IN PROGRESS. WELLINGTON, Nov. 23. The co-ordination of the defences of New Zealand and Australia was discussed yesterday with the Prime Minister (Rt. Hon. G. W. Forbes) and the Minister of Defence (Hon. J. G. Cobbe) by the Secretary to the Imperial Committee of Defence (Sir Maurice Hankey) and the Commonwealth Minister of External Affairs and Territories (Senator Sir George Pearce). Technical experts assisting in the deliberations include the Commodore Commanding the New Zealand Division of the Royal Navy (Rear-Ad-miral Burges Watson), the General Officer Commanding the New Zealand Military Forces (Major-General Sir William Sinclair-Burgess), the Commonwealth Controller-General of Munitions (Mr A. E. Leighton) and the secretary to the Commonwealth Defence Committee (Mr F. Shedden).
