PONSFORD’S RETIREMENT.
REASONS FOR DECISION. MELBOURNE, Nov. 21. Ponsford, who has decided to retire from big cricket, said to-day: “After 15 years I have had my fill of Test matches. Tours and the other firstclass matches impose a strain on players not realised by those who watch. I no longer possess the vim and keenness so necessary. Another factor is that I do not want to linger on the stage and be pushed off by lack of form.”
Asked to-day to reconsider the matter, Ponsford said: “My mind is made up and nothing will induce me to change it.”
