UNDERGROUND ROADS.

PLAN FOR LONDON. LONDON, Nov. 21. The Daily Express says that a group of leading industrialists have worked out a scheme to provide mid-London with arterial underground roads costing £400,000,000. It is suggested that the money be raised by Government loans.

The roads will emerge at points clear of traffic congestion, but motorists will be allowed to park vehicles underground near at hand and pick them up after business.

The arterial roads will be limited to private motor cars and fast goods traffic. The originators of the scheme believe that they will make the upper roads 100 per cent, safer by relieving congestion. The scheme should employ 250,000 men for the first five years.
