CROSSING COLLISION.

STALLED CAR DAMAGED. Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, Nov. 21. A small motor-car, which stalled on the railway line at a crossing a mile from Paeroa and resisted the best efforts of three women to push it clear, was damaged extensively when struck bv the Auckland-Taneatua express. The driver, Miss Turner, of Wailii. her mother, and a friend, who had alighted to attempt to push the car from the lines, were unhurt.

The car stalled on the line shortly before the train reached the crossing. Finding it impossible to push the machine to safety the women jumped clear as the train bore down on them. The engine struck the front part of the car, which was overturned by the collision. The train stopped in about its own length. An inspection showed that the locomotive was undamaged.
