PROBLEM REMAINS.

UNEMPLOYMENT AT HOME. MR LANSBURY’S SUGGESTION. (British Official Wireless.) Received November 21, 11.15 a.m. RUGBY, Nov. 20. There was a large attendance when the House of Commons reassembled this afternoon. The Address from the Throne was moved and seconded by Mr N. K. Lindsay and Colonel Kerr. Both Mr George Lansbury and the Prime Minister (Mr Ramsay MacDonald) were early speakers in the debate which followed.

Mr Lansbury, criticising points of the Government’s proposals outlined in the Speech from the Throne, emphasised that, despite the great increase of people in work, unemployment was still widespread. He urged that employers and employed should together try to evolve a means of reducing hours, employing extra workpeople without reducing wages or profits.
