LORD SEMPILL’S FLIGHT.

ANXIETY ALLAYED. DARWIN, Nov. 20. Lord Sempill is safe at Bathurst Island, where he is resting. Anxiety had been felt for the safety of Lord Sempill, who is flying from England and who left Ivoepang yesterday for Bathurst Island. He was due at Darwin to-day, but had not arrived at noon. ' Three RoyabAir Force flying boats, which are returning to Basra from the Melbourne Centenary, had arrived at Darwin and were standing by awaiting news of Lord Sempill. If necessary they were to begin a Bathurst Island is 50 miles from Darwin and there had been no means of communication.

AIRMAN RESTING. ARRIVED LAST MONDAY. Received November 21, 10.55 a.m. DARWIN, Nov. 21. Lord Sempill, who is at Bathurst Island, landed there at mid-day on Monday. Pilot Cropiley flew from Darwin to Bathurst Island and returned with the. news that Lord Sempill was resting before continuing his flight to-day.

MISS FREDA THOMPSON. ARRIVAL AT MASCOT. SYDNEY. Nov. 20. .Miss Freda Thompson has arrived at Mascot aerodrome and will probably remain a week before resuming her journey to Melbourne in completion of her arduous • flight from England.

AIR RACE FLIERS. LAST AT DARWIN. SYDNEY, Nov. 20.. Davies and Hill, the last of the air race competitors, arrived at Darwin at 1.30 p.m. to-day. They had considerable trouble with the aileron controls in India and other minor trouble.

FLIGHT BY ULM. CANADA AND PACIFIC. QUEBEC, Nov. 19. Mr C. T. P. Ulm is planning to fly his’streamlined Airspeed Envoy ’plane across Canada to Vancouver and thence to Australia. The ’plane was landed on Monday from the steamship Athenia, and he is having it assembled during the night so he can take off early on Tuesday. Mr Ulm expressed uncertainty about the exact details of the flight, saying that much depended on weather conditions over Canada and the Pacific. If all went well he hoped to be in Melbourne by next Saturday or Sunday. While he would not say for certain, it appeared that Mr Ulm, after leaving Vancouver, will stop at Honolulu and Suva.

CHANGE OF PLANS

EXTENSION OF RUNWAY,

Received November 21, 1 p.m. VANCOUVER, Nov. 20. The reported change in Mr Ulm’s plans—to fly direct to Hawaii or Fanning Island from Vancouver instead of via San Francisco—has startled local fliers, who began to-day calculations for extending the half-mile runway to a mile.

Mr Ulm will require nearly two tons of petrol. No final decision will be reached until his arrival, which is likely on Thursday. He will have an escort of ten local planes at the liopoff. ARRIVAL AT MONTREAL. Received November 21, 1.30 p.m. MONTREAL, Nov. 20. Mr C. T. P. Ulm hopped off from Quebec at noon to-day and arrived at Montreal, covering the 180 miles in GO minute 9.

AIR LINER SEAT. PART OF THE MISS HOBART. MELBOURNE, Nov. 20. The seat found at Waratah Bay has been identified by the Controller of Aviation as part of the missing air liner Miss Hobart, but the seat gives no indication of the cause of the accident.
