TROTTING NOTES.
LOCAL TRAINERS AND HORSES.
A. Garnett, son of Harry Garnett, has had Bolinda King and a 3-year-old halfbrother by Worthy Bingen—Ranee placed in his hands to train for future engagements. These horses have recently been leased by Mrs Condon from W. Candy and will be raced at the Manawatu and other West Coast (N. 1.) meetings about Easter time.
Mrs Condon’s lease of Summertime expires at tho end of December and will not be renewed.
Blue Blood; who was trained by W. A. Price for the late W. McFarlane last season, has-been acquired by R. D. Kennerley, of Addington. Blue Blood, who is now six years old, looks like developing into a good horse this season. A Palmeretonian was after this horse but failed to effect a deal. ' ,
Allan Farland’s Aerial Boy is trotting in great style and looks like collecting some stakes shortly. This horse appears to be at his best when big and fresh and will probably race at tho Wairarapa on Boxing Day. ' When Indianapolis ran- in the big race on the last day at Addington and won he gave spectators a thrill they had not witnessed before. Indianapolis broke one of •his hopples shortly after the -start, and many watching the race expected McDermott (his driver) to pull him up/ However, McDermott decided to keep him going until he broke, which he expected the horse to do at any moment. However, Indianapolis did not break and ho won a great race with one hopple swinging about his legs. McDermott’s courage brought the crowd to their feet and they gave the horse and driver a great ovation one which was richly deserved. F. J. Smith, the leading Auckland driver, is said to have had a rough time handed out to him in a couple of races at Addington, and many were surprised that no action was taken by the stewards. Smith managed to win two goods races with Nell Volo and Worthy Light. A good deal of interest is being taken m the proposed match between Worthy Queen and Nell Volo, and the club that stages the match will have a record attendance. War Buoy’s win at Addington, made it nine wins on end, and as he wilt be on the limit in tho President’s Handicap at Forbury it looks like making it even numbers. . Wrack’s stock have so far this season won 28 races and been placed 35 times, and have collected £6287 in stakes. The . next on the list of sires is Rcy de Oro with 14 wins, 42 places, and stakes amounting to £3461. . ~ , , An American sportsman is said to nave offered 20,000 dollars for Indianapolis a while back, but Mr G. J. Barton’s reply was that money would not buy the horse. The late W. J. Tomkinson considered Indianapolis the best horse he had ever put a hand on. The programmes for the Manawatu, Wanganui, Hawcra, and Taranaki Trotting Clubs’ autumn meetings have been finalised and will be published before Christmas.
