GAMING CHARGES.

FINE AT OAAIARU. Per Press Association. OAAIARU, Nov. 20. At the Alagistrate’s Court this afternoon before Air H. W. Bundle, S.AI., Thomas Leslie Richards was convicted and fined £35 and costs 10s for keeping a common gaming-house. A second charge of bookmaking ■was withdrawn, the police asking for only one conviction. CASES AT CHRISTCHURCH. Per Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, Nov. 20. Four men, all employed in city hotels, were fined in the Afagistrate’s Court to-day for breaches of tlie gaming laws. Frank Hughes, a barman at Tattersail’s Hotel, was fined £25; Harry Aynsley Marks, a barman at the Excelsior Hotel, was fined £35; Albert Edward Jones, a barman at the Zetland Hotel, was fined, £10; James Robert Pirie, a porter at Warner’s Hotel, was fined £7.

It was stated concerning Jones and Pirie that they were in a small way, taking bets on behalf of other men.
