GRANTS TO SCHOOLS.
BASIS OF CALCULATION. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Nov. 21. The Education Board decided to-day to urge that legislation be introduced to provide for the adoption of the average roll instead of the average attendance for all items for which the latter is now taken as the basis ot calculation.
It was stated that if adopted, this would largely solve the degrading and other problems confronting schools, as it would make for smaller classes and the absorption of teachers.
