CRICKET INCIDENT.
WOOLLEY AND BRADMAN
Received November 13, 1.25 p.m. LONDON, Nov. 12,
Mr A, P. F. Chapman, speaking at a dinner:,at the Savoy Hotel when Sir Walter Lawrence’s trophy commemorating the fastest century of the season was presented to Mr F. Woolley for making 100 in 63 minutes again Northants, recalled that Woolley, when wic-ket-keeping in the final Test, caught Bradman, but was so pleased with himself that he forgot to appeal, which showed his broadmindedness.
Woolley, interviewed, said the incident occurred when Bradman in the first innings had scored five runs. “Sutcliffe was about to appeal and I stopped him. Bradman subsequently told me the ball came off bis glove and that lie might have been out.”
