FLOODS IN VENICE

3.45 P.M. EDITION

GREAT DAMAGE CAUSED

(United Press Association—By Electric Telegrap h—Copy right.) Received November 9, 1.45 p.m. VENICE, Nov. 8. Exceptional tidal floods are causing great damage. Gondolas are carrying the populace over St. Mark’s Square. Several towers of old houses have collapsed and the marble decorations of a number of palaces are dropping off. The damage is serious, as it follows extensive undermining of the foundations of the palaces from the effects of motorboat traffic. The populace is hastily moving furniture to the upper floors.
