SELF-DENIAL APPEAL.

SALVATION ARMY’S RECEIPTS

Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Nov. 5. The total amount raised throughout New Zealand by the Salvation Army’s self-denial appeal was £21,061, which is a' little in advance of last year’s total. The chief secretary (Colonel Orsborn), in making an. announcement to this effect to-night, warmly thanked Salvationists and friends for the work they had done and the gifts they had made, which would enable the Army to carry on its campaign.

CENTRAL NORTH DIVISION

INCREASE IN CONTRIBUTIONS.

The Central North Division, with headquarters at Palmerston North contributed £5087 in the self-denial appeal, or over one-quarter of tlie Dominion total. Showing a 10 per cent, increase over last year’s figures, it recorded tlie largest advance of any area in New Zealand. Figures for Palmerston North and adjacent centres are as follow : •—Palmerston North Corps £271 (including £36 collected bv the Young People), Terrace End Corps £6l, Feilding £224 (including £3l collected by the Young People), Marton £194, Levin £lO9, Pahiatua £BS, Woodville £75, and Foxton £4l.

GENERAL TO VISIT DOMINION

Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Nov. 5.

The Salvation Army headquarters announces that General Evangeline Booth is expected to_ visit New Zealand. She is leaving Sydney on April 25 and will arrive at Auckland to attend a "congress in Wellington on May 7.
