The committee of the Lytton Street School met last night, Mr Jas. Penney presiding. A iso present were Mrs Green, Mrs Pearson, Messrs It. Heald, T. Donaldson, C. V. Jewell, G. F. Loney, and Air C. A. Batt (headmaster). An apology for absence was received from Mr L. D. Miller. Mr Batt' reported as follows for the month: —“The average roll for October was 290.5. The attendance is still Buffering seriously on account ot the epidemic of measles. The concrete work that was left in abeyance has been completed by unemployed labour, as it was regarded as developmental work. The school building has been considerably improved in appearance by the board’s workmen, who gave it two coats of paint. The community towels at the school have been abolished and pupils asked to bring their own towels. The community towel is a source of danger at the best of times.”
The report was adopted, the chairman commenting on the clean appearance of the school and grounds. The Palmerston North Presbyterian Young Women's Bible Class was granted the use of the school for camping purposes at Easter next, subject to the fulfilment of certain conditions and the approval of the Education Board.

Schools Bill was deferred for a month to allow Rev. E. O. Blamires to attend the meeting and outline the measure to the committee.

The school was again broken into during one week-end, and some damage done, but nothing taken. The chairman reported he had had the school disinfected by the health inspector owing to the prevalence of measles. The burglary had been reported to the police, who had the matter under investigation. The secretary of the' Parents’ Association forwarded the sum of £6 18s for the purpose of providing the school with suitable pictures, and notified that there was an additional sum of about 25s to come. In addition, the children had raised £6 by the Flower Day effort, and this also was for the purpose of providing pictures.—The com-
mittee approved and thanked the Parents’ Association for its efforts.
The chairman reported lie and the secretary had been waited upon by an officer of the Government Savings Bank with the request that the school should introduce the- Government scheme of saving for the children. The scheme was explained, and the committee decided to await the appointment of the new headmaster before making any change from the present system. The secretary of the Schools Dental Clinic wrote asking the committee to appoint two representatives to a meeting of the clinic. It was further reported that the school had 200 children receiving the service of the clinic and it would be necessary to collect one shilling per head from these children to meet the levy.
