(From Our Own Correspondent.) TAONUI, Nov. 6.
Congratulations are due to Mr Benge, of Aorangi, and to Mr J. Campbell, of Tnonuj, for the outstanding success attained with their stock at the Manawatu j Show. I The monthly meeting of the School Committee was held last evening, those present being Messrs McFarland (chairman), Osborne, Marslon. Mesdames McFarland and Cochrane. The head teacher (Miss Curtis) was also present. The usual business was dealt with an accounts passed for payment' A petition regarding the reinstating of fivo-year-old children in schools was signed by all the members. It was decided to assist in the conveying of the children to the welcome homo of the Manawatu airmen. The heavy frost which was experienced yesterday morning severely cut all early potatoes and other tender crops. This will mean a great loss to those who hoped to catch the early market with their potatoes. Another frost was experienced this morning, being not quite so severe.
