AGRICULTURAL BILL
COALITION AGREES ON AMENDMENTS.
SUBSTANTIAL CHANGE LIKELY
(Bv Telegraph.—Special to Standard.! WELLINGTON, Nov. 6. The Coalition Party held a long caucus to-day, at which Cabinet’s proposals for a modification of the Agricultural (Emergency Powers) Bill were submitted. It has not yet been ascertained which of the several alternatives to the original constitution of the Executive Commission was approved, but it is evdent from the satstactory conclusion of the discussion that there has been a substantial change in this respect. The Prime Minister stated that the amendments would be circulated in due course in a supplementary order paper, but not before Wednesday and pos-. sibly later, because, as he explained, there is a no-confidence motior. before the House in relation to native administration, and the usual procedure is that, while the Government is on its trial, it makes no further important decision until a verdict is given.
“The Opposition will have all the time it requires for the native discussion,” commented Mr Forbes. “If today is not sufficient they can go on talking to-morrow.”
