DUKE INDISPOSED.
DEVELOPMENT OF CHILL. MELBOURNE, Nov. 2. As the result of a chill which developed overnight in his train, the Duke of Gloucester remained in bed in the train to-day near Colac. This necessitated the cancelling of his engagements to-day. The Duke is suffering from catarrh, but his general condition is satisfactory. He was due to-day to picnic at Otway forest, and from there proceed to Lorne, a coastal resort, afterward travelling over the Ocean Road toward Geelong. The Duke’s regretful message to those concerned said it was with the greatest reluctance that he had taken the advice and cancelled the visit. He wished to convey his regret to the people at the disappointment and inconvience caused them. The Duke’s indisposition was probably caused by the recent extremes of temperature. At Mildura it was 100 degrees, and a Colac last night 40 degrees. . t . To-morrow’s programme is uncertain, and the Duke may miss the Henley regatta, Melbourne’s famous river carnival.
