LABOUR PARTY CONSULTED.

MINISTER AND RECEIVERSHIP BILL.

WELLINGTON, Nov. 3

The revelation that the Labour Party had been taken into the confidence of tho Minister of Finance, Rt. Hon. J. G. Coates, before the special legislation dealing with tho McArthur group of companies was brought before the House dramatically three months ago was made by Mr J. A. Lee, when speaking on the Companies (Temporary Receivership) Bill in the House yesterday. “The Labour Party has to thank the Minister of Finance for his prior intimation to it that the legislation was contemplated,” said Mr Lee. “He was generous enough to realise that it might not be fair to unload this legislation without doing that. Ho consulted the Leader of the Opposition before the Bill appeared, and Mr Savage said he would do all in his power to let daylight into the affairs of any company. The Labour Party bad a caucus and unanimously decided to help to put the Bill through.”
