FIRST AUCKLAND SALE.
OPINIONS OF BROKERS
AUCKLAND, Nov. 2. The first wool sale of the season will be held in Auckland on November 27, and all over the province shearers are working at full pressure. There has been good shearing weather this year, with several long spells without rain. Brokers are of opinion that it is too early to form an opinion as to the general quality of the wool likely to be offered, but what lias come forward already lias been well up .to standard. Although there is confidence in the industry as to tlic prospects for tli*e coming season, brokers prefer to be non-committal in estimating the . demand. Much depends on the activities of German and Japanese buyers. In some quarters it is believed that Japan will be seeking coarser wools, having been a big buyer of the finer counts last season. Germany is buying to a limited extent elsewhere, and it is hoped that her buyers will be present for the early sales. The limit of the catalogue for the first Auckland auction has not yet been announced, but it is thought it will be about 25,000 bales, a figure that, with the absence of the large carry-over of last season, is not likely to be exceeded.
