“Power Lost and Regained” should bo a most helpful subject for Christians on Sunday at 11 a.m., at the United Evangelical Church, when Mr Wesley Richards, the pastor, will preach. The subject he has chosen for 7 p.m. is one that brings outside proof to bear on the accuracy of Bible records, that of “The Bible and Archaeology.” Recent findings in the shape of cuneiform tablets, etc., in Egypt. Mesopotamia and other parts of the ancient world are corroborating in minutest detailo. Scripture records which are persistently denied by the latest form of infidelity known as Modernism. To-morrow the All Saints’ Patronal Festival will be continued, being the Sunday within the Octave of the Feast of All Saints’. The day will begin with the celebration of the Holy Communion at 8 a.m. Matins with sermon will be at 11 a.m. In the afternoon at 2.30 the Sunday school children will assemble in the church and parents are asked to come with them to take part in the ancient custom of Clipping the Church. This will take place to the hymn, “We Love the Place, 0 God.” Festal Evensong will be at 7 p.m., the preacher being Canon Williams, of Wanganui. At the close of the service there will be a solemn processional ending with the Te Deum before the altar. The offertory throughout the day will be for the golden offering. At St. Paul’s Methodist Church to-mor-row the school anniversary will be of a special nature. It is the diamond jubilee of the school, Mr J. F. Dillon, from the Wairarapa, having opened the first Sunday school in Palmerston North in 1874. Successive superintendents have included Messrs J. P. Leary, E. Powell, W. E. Patten, James Grace," G. IL Bennett and W. Spooner. Mr G. H. Stiles has rendered outstanding service for some years and with the secretary (Mr E. Lock) has made full arrangements for the jubilee. Preachers will be Rev. A. N. Scotter, Rev. R. Simpson,

and Rev. J. Hubbard, while the music will be of the usual high standard. The jubilee tea will be held on Wednesday next, when the jubilee cake will be cut. A concert of very special items will be held after the tea. Evangelist Hinrichsen will preach both morning and evening in the Church of Christ on Sunday “Was Jesus a Product of Evolution ?” is the evening- topic. The monthly collection for benevolent work will bo taken up this Sunday. On Friday. November 9, at 7.30 p.m. the _2lst church anniversary social and thanksgiving will be held in the Orange Hall. All are welcome.
