Before His Honour Mr Justice Blair yesterday in the Supreme Court the hearing was continued of the case in which Alice Elizabeth Bassett (Palmerston North) and others asked for the removal of Francis John Bassett (Weber), Alexander Louise Stewart (Ti Tree Point) and Clifford Harris Thompson (Dannevirke) from the position of trustees in the estate of Francis Bassett, deceased, formerly of Weber. It was also requested that another trustee or trustees should be appointed and that the present trustees should indemnify the estate for any payments made if contrary to their powers. Mr H. R. Cooper and Sir P. W. Dorrington are apearing for the 25 plaintiffs, Mr T. H. G. Lloyd for the defendant Stewart, and Mr A. M. Ongley for the defendants Bassett and Thompson. Norman Web ley, acountant, continued his evidence as to his examination of the books of the estate, the Court having under consideration a motion by Mr Ongley for the alteration in certain details of a report by Mr Webley on the accounts of the estate. Following a retirement, His Honour allowed all the requests made in the motion with the exception of one which was refused on technical grounds. The sum of 20 guineas costs and disbursements was allowed the defendants Thompson and Bassett and 15 guineas costs and disbursements were allowed the defendant Stewart against the plaintiffs’ interest in the estate on the motion. , , . , The Court then proceeded to deal with the amount paid Francis John Bassett as farm manager it being alleged that £6 a week and a store allowance, which had been paid, was too much. After evidence had been heard on both sides His Honour reserved his decision until 10 a.m. on Monday.
