ELECTIONS IN BRITAIN.

FOR MUNICIPAL COUNCILS

(British Official AYireless.) RUGBY, Oct. 31

Polling takes place to-morrow- in municipal council elections throughout the country and in London 28 borough councils will be reconstituted. The election campaign has been proceeding tor several weeks and 2700 candidates have been nominated. Of these 15S have been returned unopposed and the remainder arc contesting 1167 seats. Although many of the issues are purely local, candidates are in the main divided into two parties, 1271 being Municipal Reformers and 1157 Labour supporters. Ninety-four are standing as Independents and there are 62 Communists. The candidates include 460 women.
