DOGS ON SHOW
AIANAAVATU KENNEL CLUB. A SPLENDID DISPLAY. ALLOCATION OF AAV ARDS. AVith 140 entries representing the aristocrats of the various breeds, the Manawatu Kennel Club’s exhibition opened at the Spring Show yesterday, .attracting a great deal of attention. There was only one disappointing feature, and that was the failure of some of the Auckland dogs to arrive by rail in ’ime for judging. Those who allocated the awards were Messrs L. Hall (Lower Hutt), terriers; V. Frazer (AVellington), Alsatians; and J. Soler (Owhango), all other breeds.. There were many valuable trophies at stake, but the most sought award was the New Zealand Kennel Club’s challenge certificate for all breeds. Alsatians were most strongly represented with 20 dogs, while cocker spaniels were present in almost equal strength. Prominent among the exhibits are a Labrador, a breed comparatively new to New Zealand; an imported French bulldog; and the Alsatian Sylvie of Ruahine, which has been judged the best dog in the show on several previous occasions.
