ASSETS AND . LIABILITIES. STERLING EXCHANGE LOWER. WELLINGTON, Nor. 2. The 13th weekly statement of the assets and liabilities of the Reserve Bank of New Zealand as at the close of business on Monday, October 29, is as follows :—-

Proportion of reserve (No. 8 less No. 6) to notes and other demand liabilities, 99.42 per cent, compared with 99.48 per cent, on October 22. There has been no further change in the bank’s holding of gold, which .stands at £3,201,727. Sterling exchange at £23,222,189, however shows a reduction on the week of ±,1,498,80i. Subsidiary coin at £115,886 4s lOd shows only a nominal change. Investments have advanced by £20,251 to £1 536,473. Other assets at £3/,112 10s Id, show a decrease of £6495 os 6d. On the liabilities side, bank notes at £8,878,287 10s show a very minor change. Government deposits show a further advance during the week, and have increased by £617,319 13s 4d to £5,020,113 7s sd. Demand liabilities to the trading banks stand at £12,6/6,766. a reduction of £2,106,781. Other demand liabilities at £2649 3s 6d have decreased by £253 2s 6d. Other liabilities have increased by £5103 3s Id to £35,572 3s 7d. The statement balances at £2a,itd,388 5s 2d, a reduction of £1,484,88/ 15s 4d.
