PROUD OF PILOTS
MANAWATU AIRMEN’S FEAT. “Mention of this form of transport brings our minds to the feats performed in another class of transport—the flight accomplished. by SquadronLeader McGregor and Mr H. C. Walker, who landed at Melbourne on Sunday,” stated Mr J. A. Nash, M.P., when opening the Motor Olympia in the Spring Show yesterday afternoon. The Manawatu pilots, he added, were deserving of New Zealand’s l>est congratulations for their great performance, which had been followed with the keenest interest in the city. All owed a debt of gratitude to Messrs H. E. Edmunds, A. E. Mansford, A. H. Honeyfield, A. Hopwood (who had in the first place made the project possible), and others for their assistance. Both Sir Charles Ivingsford Smith’s and Mr C. T. P. Ulm’s reerds had been broken bv the Manawatu pilots, added Mr Nash. All were proud of Manawatu’s own airmen, and it was hoped the public would not fail to give their support in relieving the guarantors of their financial obligations regarding the entry.
