OBITUARY
AIR J. W. TETLEY. The death occurred at AVaihi this week of Air John AV. Tetlely, in his 58th year, father of Air J. H. Tetley, a lecturer at Alassey College. Born at Paeroa, Air John Tetley resided there until 1899, when lie enlisted in the first New Zealand contingent for tlio South African AVar. On the cessation of hostilities he was appointed to a position in tlie Government service and remained in South Africa for a further six years. He then returned to New Zealand and joined the clerical staff of the AA’aihi Grand Junction Gold Company, continuing in its employ for 17 years. In 1925 he was appointed by the AA’aihi Hospital Board as secretary and house manager, and held that office until the time of his death. AVhile he did not seek public office, he was always ready to assist in movements making for the betterment of the town and the community. He was a prominent member and officebearer in the Methodist Church and was a member of tlie Alasonic craft, being for several years treasurer of Lodge AA’aihi. Mr Tetley is survived by his wife and three sons.
