FOXTON
(From Dur Own Correspondent.) FOXTON, Oct. 31. The weekly euchre and dance organised by the committee of tho Foxton Fire Brigade Football Club was hold on Monday. The prizes for tho euchre wore won as follow: —Ladies, Mrs W. D. Neville 1, Mrs E. Bills 2, Mrs Rooro 3; men, Mr ,W. Williams 1, Mr Gilmore 2'; Mr R. Nicholson 3. Several novelty dances were hold and were won as follow : —Lucky Gay Gordons, Mr R. Nicholson and Mrs Gilmore ; Monte Carlo, Mr K. McGregor and Mrs H. McGregor. On Tuesday evening the local branch of the Manchester Unity of Oddfellows was favoured with a visit of 32 members of Loyal Manauwtu Lodge, Palmerston North. Tho visiting brethren were invited to control the lodge for the evening, Bro. Freeman, N.G., presiding. Bro. F. L. Smith, N.G., of the Foxton Lodge, welcomed the visitors. Secretary Bro. W. G. Nye added a few words of welcome. Brother Freeman suitably replied. For the entertainment of those present tho visitors conducted a mock initiation ceremony. Bro. D. T. Dilks, P.D.G.M., expressed his pleasure at being present. Bro. W. G. Nye was again nominated for a position on the District Committee. Tho purple degroe was conferred on Bro. W. Howe by the Past Grand members of the I order present. At the conclusion of business tho visitors were entertained to a social, including dancing and games. Supper was also provided. Foxton I brethren were invited to pay a return visit to Lodge Manawatu and it is hoped that this will take place on Decomber 6.
