SUPREME COURT.
DIVORCE CASES
At this morning’s sitting of the Supreme Court, before His Honour Mr Justice Blair, Ethel Isabella Martin, of Palmerston North, took action for a divorce from Bertie Albert Martin, a farmer, of Eltham. Mr L. G. H. Sinclair appeared for petitioner, the case not being defended. In evidence, petitioner said she was married, in Opunake on January 29, 1924. There were two children. In April, 1926, she had been told to leave the house by her husband and had been forced to do so. During her marriage, she had received only £l4 in all. Amos Williamson, of Otaki, father of petitioner, gave evidence that respondent had not maintained petitioner. A decree nisi, to he made absolute in three months, was granted, costs being allowed on the lowest scale. No order was made as to the custody of the children. A decree nisi was moved absolute in the case in which Mary Edith Guillemot took action for divorce from John Paul Guillemot, hairdresser, of unknown address. Mr Sinclair appeared in support of the motion. Custody of one child was given to petitioner.
