ALL SAINTS’ DAY

PATRONAL FESTIVAL. Parishioners of All Saints’ Church to-day observed All Saints’ Day with special services, this being an occasion of special significance to them. Holy Communion was celebrated at 7 a.m. and 10 a.m. and this evening Festal Evensong will be conducted by Rev. P. Wiltshire.

It is 21 years ago to-day since the foundation stone of All Saints’ was laid and it is interesting to recall a report of that significant occasion. It states:—“On Ist November, 1913, the foundation stone was well and truly laid by the Rt. Rev. Thomas Henry Sprott, D.D., Bishop of Wellington; Herbert ltosher, M.A., vicar; Frederick Grove, assistant curate; Howard Morrah and Alan Skerman, churchwardens; Hugh Akers, E. Herbert de J. Clere, W. Lockhart Fitzherbert, Karl I. Coutts, Charles Horswell, Arthur Pickering, Oscar Monrad, Richard Marsack, Norman Metcalfe, Charles Peach, vestrymen; and James Nash, Eq., Mayor of the Borough of Palmersflon North.”

The memorial stone was the gift of Mr J. Harris, of Messrs Dowdall and Co., and ha son it: “To the glory of God, All Saints’, 1913.”
