THE GREAT AIR RACE.
(To the Editor.) Sir,—As one of the citizens who are justly proud of the wonderful achievement of our. two local airmen, I am surprised to find that the great work done by Mr M. H. Oram in the matter has received no public acknowledgment. To him is undoubtedly due the credit for our district being represented. Whilst Mr Oram was in England I understand he devoted much time on behalf of the local club in the inspection of various ’planes and recommended - the purchase of the ’plane used on the flight. He had the initiative to enter for the great race, and now that it is over it occurs to me that his judgment was sound. In common with many others I feel that in the excitement over the race that the part played by Mr Oram has been overlooked and I wish to place on record my appreciation of his initiative and foresight.—Yours, etc. P. S. LARCOMB.
