Appreciation of all the GovernorGeneral (Lord Bledislose) has done for the farming community during his term of office in the Dominion was voiced by the chairman (Mr A. R. Gudopp) at yesterday’s meeting of the New Zealand Pig Breeders’ Association. The speaker stated that Lord Bledisloe had furnished the industry with very valuable information in connection with all breeds of stock and, on his suggestion, it was decided that a letter conveying the association’s appreciation be forwarded to the Governor-General. Mr N. P. Nielsen, in seconding the motion, added that no doubt Lord Bledisloe would be a great ambassador for the Dominion when he returned to England. In the House of Representatives yesterday, Mr W. A. Bodkin was granted three days’ leave of absence on account of illness. Messrs J. P. Burley (president of the Marlborough A. and P. Association) and D. Max (president of the Nelson A. and P. Association) are visitors to the Spring Show at Palmerston North. At the annual meeting of the academic board of the University of New Zealand in Wellington yesterday, Professor J. Higlit, C.M.G. (Canterbury) was elected chairman in succession to Professor H. W. Segar (Auckland). — Press Association. Rev. James Aitken, who has been minister of St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, Gisborne, for 19 years, has resigned the charge. His resignation will take effect from the end of this year. Mr Aitken was elected moderator of the Presbyterian General Assembly in 1927.
